As parents you constantly worry about your children and how you can make sure they have everything they need and that includes the right vitamins and nutrients from their food and drinks. There are a number of ways to do this, so whether you have a fussy eater or a child with a sweet tooth we have a number of ideas that will help!
Start as you Mean to Go On
It’s important to try and make sure your little ones have the best start in life and that begins with their milk during infancy. Whether you’re breast feeding, bottle feeding or giving your child a mixture of both there’s lots of advice and help available on this matter.
For breast feeders it’s important to eat a healthy balanced diet and avoid too much alcohol and for bottle fed babies take your time finding out about the benefits of different brands of formula. There are quite a few to choose from including Hipp, Aptamil, Cow & Gate and SMA so it’s worth reading up a bit and also taking advice from other mums as well as healthcare professionals.
Time goes by so quickly when you have children and before you know it your little one will be moving onto the weaning stage and trying different types of food. This can be an interesting time that involves lots of patience, different combinations to suit your baby’s palate and lots of preparing food and cleaning up!
You can help make the puree stage go a little more smoothly with kitchen accessories designed specifically for this baby stage. From puree blenders and fruit pulping sieves to large, easy to use freezer storage moulds the support and easy-to-use products are many and varied with something to suit all styles and tastes!
And, don’t forget the easily washable, magic place mats – they help keep the bowls in place on your highchair or table – but unfortunately, not the food!
Ways to Successfully Introduce New Foods as They Grow
Did you now it can take more than 20 attempts before a child will happily eat a new food? With this in mind it could be worthwhile investing in a plate where you can clearly separate the different foods. You could portion them into proteins, carbohydrates and pulses and explain the benefits of each type of food, or into colours to make the meal look more appealing.
Another alternative which can work particularly well when it comes to encouraging your little ones to try new vegetables and fruit is to get a juicer. Let your child pick out a new fruit or veggie then blend it up in a suitable mixture of other foods and let them try the new taste that way. There are plenty of juicer and smoothie recipe books out there, many of which are aimed at kids so you won’t be stuck for ideas!
A New Assistant Chef Might Prove Helpful?
Letting your little one help in the kitchen is a great way to get them interested in food and trying new ones. You might be surprised at just how willing they are to taste new foods when they’ve helped prepare the meal!
A cute apron and cooking set can help encourage your budding chef. And, if you’re lucky they might start baking delicious cakes and delectable meals sooner than you think!
